Product details

Few medicines have changed a field the way Wegovy has. Its active ingredient, semaglutide, mimics a natural hormone the gut releases after eating, the one that tells the brain you have had enough. Topped up week after week, that signal becomes steady rather than fleeting, and appetite settles accordingly.

The effect on weight has been substantial and well documented across the large STEP research program, alongside a separate approval for reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke in certain adults who carry excess weight. For many, the quiet shift is psychological as much as physical, the constant background noise around food simply turns down.

Wegovy is injected just under the skin once a week from a prefilled pen. The dose rises in stages over the first months, which is the key to keeping early nausea brief and mild.

  • Semaglutide reinforces the body's natural fullness signal
  • A measured dose schedule keeps the early weeks comfortable
  • One weekly injection, on a day that fits your week

As a GLP-1 medicine, Wegovy carries a boxed warning about a rare thyroid tumor seen in animal studies and is not suitable for anyone with a history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2. Available on prescription.

Inject once a week under the skin of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, on the same day each week and rotating the site. The dose is raised in set stages roughly every four weeks to ease you in gently. If a dose is missed and the next is more than two days away, take it as soon as you remember, otherwise skip it. Never double up.

Semaglutide as the active ingredient, in a sterile solution for injection.

Nausea leads the list early on and usually fades within weeks, often with changes in bowel habit and occasional reflux. Less frequently: gallbladder problems and pancreatitis. Taking it with insulin or sulfonylureas raises the chance of low blood sugar.

Carries a boxed warning for a rare thyroid tumor observed in animals. Not suitable if you or a relative has had medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2. Report severe ongoing stomach pain, a possible sign of pancreatitis. Not for use in pregnancy.
