Why choose weight loss medications?

GLP-1 receptor agonists are transforming the way we approach weight loss. Originally developed to help people with type 2 diabetes, these medications have since gained widespread approval for their effectiveness in weight management.

GLP-1 weight loss treatments work by mimicking natural hormones that help regulate appetite, slow digestion, and promote a feeling of fullness. Making it easier to reduce caloric intake and support sustainable weight loss.

Proven results, backed by science

Weight loss medications targeting GLP-1 receptors offer clinically proven results for individuals with obesity or weight-related health issues. These treatments are not quick fixes. They are part of a long-term medical strategy designed to support a healthier lifestyle.

By reducing hunger signals and increasing feelings of fullness, GLP-1 therapies can help patients lose a significant percentage of their body weight when combined with lifestyle changes.

For those who have had limited success with diet and exercise alone, GLP-1–based products represent a modern and effective alternative, approved by regulatory authorities across the US.

How long does it take for ondansetron to start working?

This ODT form of ondansetron begins to work in as little as 15-30 minutes. The peak effect is often felt within 1.5-2 hours.

What ages is ondansetron suitable for?

Ondansetron can be used in people 4 years of age and up, although use of this medicine in children under 12 is usually reserved for nausea due to chemotherapy.

Who should not use ondansetron?

Apomorphine Users: You must never take ondansetron if you are using Apomorphine (used for Parkinson’s disease). Combining these drugs can cause a significant drop in blood pressure and loss of consciousness.
Long QT Syndrome: Individuals with a personal or family history of Congenital Long QT Syndrome should avoid this medication, as it can trigger a life-threatening heart rhythm called Torsades de Pointe.
Known Hypersensitivity: Anyone who has had an allergic reaction to ondansetron or other "setron" drugs (like Granisetron or Palonosetron).

High-Risk Groups (Consult a Doctor)

Patients on Antidepressants: Using ondansetron alongside SSRIs (like Zoloft) or SNRIs (like Cymbalta) significantly increases the risk of Serotonin Syndrome, a potentially fatal condition caused by too much serotonin in the nervous system.
Electrolyte Imbalances: Those with low levels of potassium or magnesium in their blood are at much higher risk for heart complications while taking this drug.
Liver Disease: Patients with severe hepatic impairment require significantly reduced doses, as the liver is responsible for clearing the drug from the body.
Phenylketonuria (PKU): The ODT (Orally Disintegrating Tablet) formulation often contains aspartame, which is a source of phenylalanine and can be harmful to people with PKU.

What side effects might I experience?

Headache and constipation are the most common side effects of ondansetron.

Serious Side Effects (Seek Immediate Medical Attention):

Stop taking the medication and contact a healthcare provider immediately if you experience:
Heart Rhythm Changes: Fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeats, or fainting (signs of QT prolongation).
Serotonin Syndrome: Symptoms include agitation, hallucinations, rapid heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering, or muscle stiffness.
Vision Loss: Temporary blurred vision or, in rare cases, temporary blindness (typically lasting only a few minutes to hours).
Severe Allergic Reaction: Swelling of the face, lips, or tongue; difficulty breathing; or a severe skin rash/hives.
